Wellington Shire Council is currently seeking a suitably qualified and experienced individual to be a part of our core Leadership Group. This fantastic opportunity will have you overseeing the delivery of superior services to the Wellington Shire community across the Built Environment portfolio which includes planning, operations, facilities and service functions. 

Reporting to the General Manager Built and Natural Environment, this position is responsible for developing and managing a multi-million dollar budget, leading and motivating a team of diverse professionals and prioritising team activities to ensure that the community has access to safe and effective infrastructure.

As part of Wellington Shire Council’s leadership team, you will require a strategic focus to set the direction of this Business Unit to ensure the achievement of Wellington’s strategic objectives.  

This role demands extensive relevant experience, possession of exceptional management and leadership skills, a strong customer service focus and a comprehensive understanding of the legislative framework applicable to local government.

The successful applicant will have tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering and the ability to manage the delivery of a range of infrastructure services whilst successfully leading a committed workforce. 

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate how they meet the criteria below:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering.
  • Post graduate qualifications in management or chartered status preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to a customer service culture and delivery of quality service.
  • Proven negotiation skills and experience communicating effectively with management, employees, stakeholders and customers.
  • Highly developed leadership, organisational and self-management skills to achieve objectives.
  • Competency in areas of budgeting, financial management, reporting and business planning.
  • Demonstrated capability to manage the delivery of a range of infrastructure services.
